We have had here a thriving community. It has been here for almost a decade, and I myself am a relative newcomer to it, let alone the mastodon lot. With every new wave there is an influx of people who would say that things should be different, that people should bend to their whims and if not, well, to hell with you. This is non-constructive. It consigns the people who do so to permanent minority status. This, ultimately, is why the mastodon.social community and Mastodon software both engender such reactions in the Fediverse at large. We have let all sorts of people and disparate social groups languish or be ostracised from the network that Mastodon forms because the software by design does not support those older software. I ask you: what sort of community do you hope to create, what kind of future do you hope to have for the Fediverse, when you essentially condition the community at large to be resentful of the means by which so many new people are being brought here?
